"The Poppy on the Hill"

I was headed to Ruston Louisiana to help my youngest son move out of his apartment at LA TECH and home for the summer. I have recently made it a practice to stop midway for the night. Going to Ruston and back is just too much for me to attempt in one day since it is a five hour drive one way.

I arrived in that beautiful Old South city by the river, Natchez, on Thursday evening with what I perceived as divine timing. The weather had been rainy and stormy all day, but cleared just as I parked my truck. The sun appeared joyfully through dramatic clouds over the Mighty Mississippi and shone its golden light upon my surroundings. My eyes filled with the sight of the poppies on the hill!
